And after uploading a video to YouTube, they certainly do spend a goodly amount of time "processing" after the upload complete before it's viewable.You make it sound like maybe YouTube will re-encode popular videos. It would make sense to spend extra CPU time encoding to create high quality videos that are maximally compressed (to save on disk space/reduce the bitrate while streaming). The complaint is 1080p ads are shown but the video chokes and downgrades to 480p.YouTube's primary costs are storage and bandwidth.
